Today I gave a talk at the Corinium Museum about its collection of bird related artefacts, including many Roman cockerel figurines, peahens, geese and a crane in mosaics, as well as assorted eagles and doves ranging from the Egyptian through to the Medieval period. It was an hour long talk to members of the public – relieved now it is over, but it was fun to do. I will be giving another talk in June on Anglo-Saxon and Viking art.
As for the fundraising, I have been making a bit more money with eBay of late, as I have been selling some bigger items, most recently my dog’s agility set, as he no longer uses it. I am also going to put up adverts in the local supermarket in an effort to sell my old bike, and a children’s sized violin I played when I was seven. I am also starting to get organized for a car boot sale on Sunday (weather permitting).
I have now paid for my flight, we will be flying from Gatwick – Bogota – Lima – Cuzco. It is starting to feel much more real now.

I am also now a British Exploring Brand Ambassador, which will involve me visiting schools and talking about the British Exploring Society, and also my expedition (once I’ve been on it!).
